Lighting Artist David Checkley leads this 100 minute guided walk exploring Birmingham’s illuminations. The night time city is lit for safety, security and for aesthetic reasons. What does Birmingham regard as its key buildings and how are they lit? How do civic spaces feel at night, and which streets would we never walk down? What advances have we seen in lighting recently and indeed how was the city illuminated in the days before electricity? David will shed light on these topics and more.
Join us after the walk for a warming drink, included in the ticket price. Please dress for the weather and wear shoes suitable for urban walking. Please also bring a torch if possible!
