Quantum Shorts is an international short film competition run by the Centre for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore with a constellation of prestigious partners.

Quantum physics, which describes the behaviour of matter at atomic and subatomic scales, has long provided inspiration for artists, writers, film-makers and philosophers. Entrants can use the field’s science, history, philosophy or technology as a springboard for narrative or abstract films of no more than 5 minutes in length.

The University of Birmingham’s Quantum Technology Hub will screen the 2018 film shortlist, which draw inspiration from a range of quantum-related ideas including Schrodinger’s cat and a dystopian depiction of a quantum future.
