The summer season of Arts & Science Festival celebrates the Arts & Science Sculpture Commission, with events led by each of our finalists, as well as a host of other sculpture-related activity. Browse through our full summer programme here.

We’ve created a handy list of all the sculpture commission-related events below…

Artist events:

THIS IS HOW WE SAVE THE WORLD
Join sculpture commission finalists Hipkiss & Graney on Saturday 8 June for a talk about their arts & science sculpture proposal; a holographic sculpture combining art and research.
Booking: Free, booking recommended.

MEGA FLORA! A LINO CUTTING PRINT WORKSHOP
Work with artists Juneau Projects to generate prints inspired by their Arts & Science Sculpture Commission proposal. Juneau Projects will help you to design an image that draws on the natural world around us and show you how to translate it into a lino cut print that you can take away with you.
Booking: Free, booking recommended.

THE ART OF PACEMAKERS
An artist talk by Andrew Gillespie, exploring the artistic potential of the pacemaker collection at the university. Shortlisted for the Green Heart Sculpture commission, Andrew will celebrate the university’s collection and share his ideas behind his proposal.
Booking: Free, booking recommended.

OCULUS MASQUERADE
Intervention Architecture invites you to put on their ‘wearable viewing device’ and actively engage with the Green Heart parkland through a re-imagined observation mask. The mask will create focused apertures, allowing participants to individually explore their surroundings and share their findings with each other. Come see what you can find!
Booking: Free, booking recommended.

Exhibitions:

Join us for two exhibitions dedicated to our Arts & Science Sculpture Commission. Explore small scale models, and gain a unique insight into the artistic processes behind each idea…

SCULPTURE PROPOSALS
Visit our outdoor display case and take a look at scale models produced by our four sculpture commission finalists.

SCULPTURE COMMISSION EXHIBITION
Bringing together interviews, objects, sketches and other preparatory works by each of our sculpture commission finalists, our indoor exhibition is an opportunity to get under the surface of each artist proposal.
